4. What is High (Current) bid Vs Max (Proxy) bid?
- High bid is the current bid for the item.
- Max bid is the maximum you are willing to pay for the item.
- Irrespective of your max bid, the winning price stays at high bid until it is raised by another bidder. In that case the system automatically raises your current bid up a level to over come the challenging bid, until it reaches your max bid. The challenger will have to raise his / her bid above your max bid to win the item.
- Merely matching your max bid is a tie, in which case the earlier bid gets precedence so a challenger has to go above your max bid to win.
- If your bid doesn't get challenged you will win and pay only the current high bid amount which may be well below you max bid.
- Your challenger does not see your max bid just as you dont see theirs. The software compares the bids and prioritizes higher bids and earlier input times as winners.
